Verb: EXPLAIN
This type of question is asking you to explain how things relate to one another. It requires two steps.
Step 1. draw a TABLE with the headings CAUSE and EFFECT. List all the points that you can think of under each.
Step 2. EXPLANATION: Explain the relationship between the two things. What was the cause and effect? Why or how did this happen?
Verb: JUSTIFY
This type of question is asking you to explain an argument and then take a stance with your own point of view. It requires three steps.
Step 1. ARGUMENT What is the argument? Explain exactly what the argument is, with all relevant points.
Step 2. POINT OF VIEW What is your point of view? and why? (what side of the argument do you agree with?)
Step 3. JUDGEMENT Draw a conclusion.
Verb: ANALYSE
This type of question is asking you to identify all of the points of something. Your diary says components, which is just a fancy way of saying the parts. (Parts(components) of the atom for example.) It requires two steps.
Step 1. Identify the COMPONENTS (parts)
Step 2. Explain the RELATIONSHIPS between them.
Use components and relationships as the heading for each part of your answer.
Verb: Assess
Assess questions are very much the same as Evaluate questions. You make a table for the points for and against, and they come up with your own Judgement (conclusion). This will require three steps.
Step 1. DEFINITION
Step 2. TABLE with the headings FOR and AGAINST.
Step 3. JUDGEMENT (conclusion)
Verb: Compare
This is a simple time of question that is asking you to list the similarities and differences between two things. This type of question is similar in format to the one above. It requires 3 steps.
Step 1. DEFINITIONof the two things.
Step 2. TABLE with the heading SIMILARITIES and DIFFERENCES.
Step 3. JUDGEMENT ( is it more similar or different.)

Verb: Describe
This type of question is asking you to point out or list all of the features of something. The atom is a good example for this one. How would you describe all of the parts? This type of question has two steps.
Step 1. DEFINITION of the thing as a whole.
Step 2. TABLE.Make a table with the headings FEATURE and DESCRIPTION, and simply list and describe all of the parts. (Electron - negative, small, rotates around the outside.)
Verb: Discuss
This type of question is very similar to the assess question. It is usually asking about a major issue. It requires three steps.
Step 1. ISSUE - identify what the issue is.
Step 2. TABLE Make a table with the headings FOR and AGAINST.
Step 3. JUDGEMENT (conclusion)
If you have answered everything in this format on your exam I should immediately see headings and tables in all of your answers. This makes it clear for whoever is marking your exam, and can ensure that you get all of the marks that you deserve.
